Wedding Gown Advice: What is a Sample Sale VS. Trunk Show
Tips from Nayri, Wedding Fashion Expert
Sample sales are a way for brides to purchase a dress that is discounted and ready for immediate wear. It is the store or designer selling their physical samples that brides have tried on to order their dresses. These gowns may show signs of love, but sample sales are a bargain hunters dream! One thing to be mindful of though is the sizes being offered. A bride should not aim to purchase a gown that is much smaller than her size in order to avoid unrealistic alteration expectations, but purchasing a gown that is just a bit smaller is usually okay because a corset back can be put in rather than a zipper to ensure a better fit!
Trunk shows are when designers bring in a larger selection of dresses than the store typically has in stock. Bridal stores carry many different designers, so purchasing entire collections is not always possible. Trunk shows are a great opportunity for brides to see a full collection before it is available to buy in-store, giving them the option to pre-purchase gowns before anyone else! Nayri advises that a bride should not make her first bridal store experience to be during a trunk show because only that designer will be allowed for her to try on.
