Often times brides will ask their stylist, "Based on my body type what do you think is going to look best on me?" Now, here's the thing. Let's generalize the situation and say we have two brides who fall into the pear-shaped category and are also both petite. Just because they have very similar body types does not mean the same dress will look good on both of them. Nayri says, "There is no general rule of thumb on what will look good on what body type because everybody's proportions are a little bit different." She also advises to not focus on shapes and silhouettes of dresses. Instead, ask yourself, "Do I want to show off my body or not?" Once you figure this out, you can experiment with different types of gowns and decide which you feel the most confident and comfortable in. You can even have the best of both worlds by having a fitted dress with a detachable overskirt. This gives you the opportunity to show off your curves while also having a beautiful ballgown!
