It is very normal to have some nervous feelings when you are shopping for your wedding dress. It’s not a situation you find yourself in everyday and there can be a lot of pressure put on brides when they are shopping for their dream wedding dress. We often hear from our brides that they are going to narrow down to their top three dresses and then make a final decision from those three wedding dresses.

At the end of the day, you are only shopping for one dress so don’t plan on having a top three. Automatically one dress should be out. Don’t waste your time and energy debating three dresses when you are only in need of one wedding dress. It’s very common for brides to have a hard time deciding on their wedding dress. It can be overwhelming trying on dress after dress to find the one that you love. Sometimes brides overanalyze their choices and find themselves in decision paralysis.

How will you know what you want to wear six to eight months or even a year or more from the time you are buying your wedding dress? When deciding between your two favorite dresses, try to stay clear minded. Look at yourself in the mirror and look at the overall picture. Don’t analyze any specific feature of the dress, take in the whole vision of what you look like in the dress.
The most important thing is not just how you look but it's also how you feel in the dress. You want to walk down the aisle in the dress that makes you feel excited, beautiful and confident to marry your person in. That’s when you know you have found the right dress.
Feeling Confident
If you find a bridal dress that you can’t stop smiling in and you are exuding excitement, that’s your dress. None of the other things matter - pay attention to how you feel in the dresses you are trying on. The way you walk and talk and feel in an article of clothing sets the tone and carries your mood.
Think about a time where you had a night out and you loved what you were wearing and you were confident and felt beautiful. You were thriving and loved how you photographed. All of those things are what we're looking for on wedding day, just elevated.
A wedding dress is one of the most important articles of clothing you will ever wear so you need to be in something that you feel the most beautiful and confident in. Tune in to how you feel in each of your final two dresses because there may be a clear winner and it might not just be in looks.
Looking At Photos
One of our biggest pieces of advice for brides shopping for their wedding dress is to make their decision while they are in the dress. As mentioned above, you want the dress that makes you feel beautiful and confident and you can’t recreate that feeling by looking at photos. Decide which wedding dress you are purchasing while you are in the gown.
You don’t want to go home and analyze the photos you took of you in the dresses. You’ll be zooming in on certain aspects and can get over critical. This can lead to buyer’s remorse because you are making your decision outside of the dress and just by looking at photos of a dress that doesn’t fit you perfectly and is not the finished product.
You definitely want to take photos while you are trying on dresses so you can see how they photograph and look at a different angle, but the way a dress makes you feel is so much more important.
Budgeting
The cost of wedding dresses is also a common factor that brides have to consider when wedding dress shopping. If you are stuck between two bridal gowns, we encourage you to not make your final decision based on cost alone. We understand that a budget for your wedding dress has likely been set before you began shopping and you should certainly try your best to stick to that. But if you make your final dress decision based on cost alone, you could end up regretting your decision and second guessing your choice. If you choose the gown that is less expensive just to save money, but you really love the other dress, you may not be as happy on wedding day and you don’t want any regrets when it comes to your wedding day.
If you have the funds and budget available and you really can’t choose between two dresses, you always have the option to purchase both dresses and change your bridal outfit on wedding day. Reception bridal dresses are becoming more and more popular with brides who want to have a separate look from their wedding ceremony.
If possible, take the price of the dresses out of the equation and pretend that they are the same price. We have seen brides go with the less expensive dress because they're logical and practical but they didn't buy the dress that they loved. They end up walking down the aisle in a dress that they didn't love or worse off, they end up buying the other dress and now they've spent double all in.
