What You Need To Know About Bridal Fashion Week
Before we dive in, let’s give a quick overview for brides who are new to the bridal world, or maybe you’re just starting out in your wedding dress shopping journey.
Bridal Fashion Week happens twice a year in New York, typically in April and October, and it’s where the top bridal designers debut their newest wedding dress collections.
After each runway show comes what’s called a “buying appointment,” where our Lovella Bridal team views the newest bridal gowns up close, feels the fabrics, evaluates the construction, checks pricing, and selects which designs will arrive in our Los Angeles-area salon.
These are the sample gowns that will be available for brides to try on when shopping in our store. These gowns are made-to-order for Lovella and usually take six to eight months to produce, which is why planning ahead is essential.

Now, let’s get into the trends our brides are going to love. Here are the top 10 wedding fashion trends that we spotted coming down the runway in New York. From color to sparkle to new waistlines and even more ways to make brides feel beautiful and fashion forward, this year’s bridal shows were epic.
Trend 1: Oversized Bows
Bows have been trending in bridal for a few seasons, but this year new bridal dress designers went all in on bows. Think dramatic, architectural, oversized bows placed at the back, waist, or shoulder for a high-fashion statement.
What surprised us most was just how bold and sculptural the bows were. Bows, big and small, added instant personality to clean, sleek gowns and playful elegance to more ornate wedding dress styles.
Trend 2: Bold Florals
Floral appliqués are always part of bridal fashion, but this season designers pushed florals into bigger, more exaggerated, more dimensional territory. Large-scale appliqués, oversized petals, and textured floral motifs appeared across nearly every collection.
Bold and dramatic floral details on the newest dress designs added movement and drama to both fitted gowns and grand ball gowns wedding dress styles.
Trend 3: Vibrant Wedding Dress Colors
One of the most unexpected and exciting moments of the week: bold color. From rich tones to unexpected hues inspired by designer collaborations, like the Ines Di Santo x Wicked collection, colorful wedding gowns made a statement on the runway.
Whether it’s a soft tint or a show stopping bold tone, color is officially having a bridal fashion moment.
Trend 4: Drop Waist & Basque Waist Ball Gowns
The drop waist ball gown continues its reign on the bridal fashion runways. Brides are loving the elongated waistline that dips toward the hip, creating a sculpted silhouette and beautifully accentuating the midsection.
Basque waist wedding dresses also made a strong appearance, offering a regal and timeless alternative. These styles are becoming more popular than traditional natural waists, and we expect this bridal fashion trend to continue growing.
Trend 5: Sculpted Corsets & Two-Piece Looks
Sculpted corsetry was everywhere on the bridal fashion runways this season, often paired with interchangeable overskirts. This trend is perfect for brides who want versatility: imagine wearing a dramatic ball gown skirt for the ceremony, then swapping into a fitted skirt, mini, or even bridal pants for the reception.
The top bridal dress designers showcased structured corsets with defined cups, visible boning, and architectural shaping that elevated every silhouette.
Trend 6: Feathers
Feathers made a noticeable comeback this season in the newest bridal dress designs. Whether used as a full skirt detail, a soft sleeve accent, or a modern trim, feathers added texture, movement, and personality.
Features are a playful yet elegant touch for brides who want something unexpected in their wedding day look.
Trend 7: Classic, Traditional Lace
Traditional lace in wedding dresses is back in a big way, especially in ball gowns. While modern and minimal has had a long moment, designers revived classic and timeless lace in a fresh, elevated way.
These new classic lace style gowns felt timeless, sophisticated, and beautifully bridal without feeling dated. Many brides at Lovella are gravitating toward this romantic, heirloom-inspired look, and we’re here for it!
Trend 8: Gathered Draping & Modern Minimalist Textures
For the modern minimalist bride or anyone skipping lace for their wedding day, the bridal dress designers leaned into draped, gathered, and folded fabric details. These gowns offer clean lines with sculptural interest, making them perfect for brides who love modern fashion.
Many designers also combined draping with lace for a hybrid classic-meets-modern look that felt incredibly fresh.
Trend 9: Sparkle Renaissance
Sparkle on the runway and the wedding aisle is officially back, and in a much more dramatic way. The top bridal designers introduced bolder beading, crystal details, and intricate embellishment patterns that felt luxurious and high-impact.
Sparkle and anything that adds a bit of shine is one trend we’re especially excited to bring into Lovella, as it expands the sparkle options beyond what’s currently available in our bridal store in Glenndale, CA.
Trend 10: Mini Dresses
Mini dresses popped up in nearly every wedding dress collection that we saw coming down the runway in New York. Short or mini dresses are fun, flirty, and perfect for rehearsal dinners, after-parties, or the modern bride who wants something unconventional for her wedding.
Many minis incorporated other major trends that we spotted coming down the runway this season, like feathers, florals, or bold embellishments, making them even more exciting.
